[LMS] PROOF COPY CAME

I woke up, walked out, and saw a package on top of the couch that was clearly what I have been waiting for. My lovely proof copy from Amazon.com’s CreateSpace finally arrived. I tried to rip open the package, but had to grab the razor from my bag to actually cut it open.

And I opened.

And…it’s such an unbelievable sight to see something you wrote is in the form of a book. Even if you know it’s over 480 pages of crap.

Simply picking it up and flipping through it feels like a fresh experience. It’s unbelievable to think that I was the one who sputtered out the words that are printed on the cream coloured pages. But I know it’s mine. I have the documents sitting on my computer. I have artwork I drew for the cover that looks better printed (which I knew was going to happen) in my file cabinet. My name is on the front of it. The only thing that would be more exciting than seeing this physical book in my hands is to see my name on a bookshelf in a store. That day will come. Oh, that day will come.

The formatting is just as I put it, if you can call it formatting. That font size is just to my liking (though, some people probably would want to chew me because the font is to small for them). The only thing I wish I did was put in the page count, which I didn’t have a chance to do. I was too busy just trying to get the code in so I could actually get my proof copy for free. Seeing my words on a page printed inside a bounded book makes them really feel like they’re not even mine. It’s unbelievable to see! I’m just hoping when I read it, I don’t miss things simply because it’s bound in a physical book. Because, yes, I am definitely going to read it. As a book. Not as a document on a computer screen. That’s honestly the most exciting part about having it. Plus seeing how many dang pages I wrote.

I’m pretty sure if one didn’t know any better, this would really seem like a solid book. Seriously. JUST LOOK AT ALL THOSE DANG PAGES. Of course, when you read it, half the time it’s smut and the other half of the time, it’s just outright crap, except for a few parts. Though, really, some of these parts I’m flipping too aren’t that bad. I just have to wait and see what my beta readers all say when I send them the second draft. Because, yes, I am sending them a second draft. I want to correct the first draft first.

So, yeah, my lovely people. This is what I get for writing a novel in November. And frankly, it’s a lovely prize. The best prize I could get.

I seriously can’t wait until I publish something serious. Now that’s going to be exciting.
