As I mentioned in my last post, I finally finished all my back catalog images. Though, to be honest, that’s kind of a lie – I scrapped three images along the way. I did add several more images towards the end of working on the back catalog, so that may or may not make up for it. You can be the judge. I also scrapped two images from my queue, despite being fully completed. I’ll talk about them more in this post.
The Started, But Not Finished Images
It was December 2012 and I was working on a very specific portion of my back catalog – Christmas images. A majority of images were from 2011, where I had originally planned to do a wallpaper project that I still intended to do. It was just moved from 2011 to 2012 primarily because I had to rest my wrists (pretty sure I have carpal tunnel, whoopie). In 2011, I did plan a few generic images – one was meant to be a huge thank you for people who started watching me for The Cleanser 2 and featured Satoko, another one with a few select characters of mine mostly interacting, and two images that were meant to be my own Christmas gifts to me. As I was working on the images, I decided to scrap the Satoko one and the one with a few of my select characters on it.
I scrapped the Satoko one because the image itself was TERRIBLE. It’s absolutely terrible! Just…just look at it! What an ugly thing! The dress design is terrible. The drawing in general is absolutely horrid. It’s not even up to 2011 quality standards! I’m pretty sure some people are going to want to argue it’s not bad and they love it what not…but I just don’t like it. Not to mention, Cleanser 2 had long past at this point (over a year!), so it felt irrelevant.
The handful of my own characters drawn together was actually meant to be for myself. Well, a piece of the picture was suppose to be anyway – I took four of my most popular characters, plus Clyde (the guy with the pink hair) and drew them interacting. I thought the picture was okay, but I honestly never felt completely happy with the image. Hence why I scrapped it for Christmas. Maybe I’ll try it again in the future with everything better. Also, it would have taken me a lot longer than I had to finish it…so it wasn’t worth doing.
The final image is of my characters Spark and Vainstrel kissing. I didn’t scrap this one until a few weeks ago, actually, when I was shading. I was sick of doing my painted dreams style, as well as colouring these two. THEY HAVE SO MANY FREAKIN’ COLOURS AND ARE SUCH A PAIN TO DO. Not to mention, I have a love-hate relationship for their pairing (yes, they’re my own characters and I’m not a fan of the pairing). I decided it was best for me to scrap it and not bother getting myself angry over shading the image. I will admit I do feel bad for scrapping it and I may go back and finish it one day. On the other hand…Vainstrel’s legs are terrible and I’d rather just wait until I get better at drawing and redraw it, then colour it one day.
Finished, but Scrapped
The Cleanser 2 had been finished in 2011 a few weeks before Christmas and I felt that it was appropriate to thank my new 120+ watchers by including Cleanser 2-related images in my Christmas wallpaper project. I ended up scrapping them in 2012 though because I blacklisted the client for numerous reasons and felt that it was inappropriate to post them. Its been a while though and I feel bad that these never saw the light of day. Not to mention, they weren’t commissions – they were things I drew on my own!
The first image was of Satoko in the iron corset, doing a peace sign and winking, which is actually a vastly different attitude from Cleanser 2, where she was pretty much crying. I don’t like this image, particularly because I don’t like how I drew her body. Unfortunately I can’t find the shaded version of it (it’s not on any of my back ups), so you’ll have to make due with the unshaded version!
The second one was much more fun for me – it featured the princess dress from the comic. I got the texture of CGTextures. There’s not really too much about this one I can say.
If I decided to keep these, I would have actually scrapped the iron corset one because I don’t like it at all.
I replaced the both of these with two of Ash’s other crossdressing disguises – the maid one and the most recent one.
Nope! To my knowledge, that was all that was scrapped. However, I may have easily skipped over some images when I was working in MangaStudio that I forgot to convert in a .PSD format. That happened with a few images.
Next in this “series”, we shall be talking about the art trade images. And after that – CHRISTMAS IMAGES!!!! Oh man, are you as excited as I am?
