A while back, maybe in 2007 or 2008, I created a character named the Death Fairy. She is the representation of Death in my stories, much like the Grim Reaper. She’s kind, haunting, and has empathy at the same time as lacking mercy. I only drew her once though and never really developed her more.
With this image, I dived a bit more into her character – she brings flowers when she’s about to take a soul.
I’m honestly not sure if I’m going to keep the concept or not, but it sounds nice. I kind of want to do something more “believable” though so there’s a few people who have a “what if she’s real” moment.
I like the coloured version of this, though I’m sad that with the lighting effects you can’t really appreciate some of the work I put into it.
Which is why I also have the non-fixed up version.
For some reason, I made her wings glow a pinkish red in the original artwork of her (in 2007 or 2008), which is a trait I kept. I think it looks nice and breaks up the otherwise evil look her design would have.
Her outfit is a lot skimpier than I thought it was. It probably has to do with my current drawing ability. I actually really like how it looks on her and suits her well.
I really, really, really like how her legs are drawn here. I don’t usually draw legs that nice!
This was done in the earlier stages of my painted dreams style, which I have gradually grown on since this image.
If I could redo this image, I probably would do some research on flower meanings and would have drawn the flowers that corresponded to whatever meaning she was trying to leave. I didn’t think about that at the time though.
