高校 – こうこう – high school
The kanji compound is made up of the kanji for “high/tall” (高) and “school” (校). So it can literally be read as “high school”. I think that’s cool! >w<
I love learning things like this. It makes me wonder if there’s words that are sort of fundamentally the same in every language?
Learning this also makes me question why we, in English, call it “High School”.
