This is one of the pieces I drew to become a print. It lost to Seirian on a Tree.
I’ll be honest, I don’t feel like Seirian is the type of witch to practice spellcasting all that much, so I don’t feel like this is within her character. She’s more of a broom-surfing, treetop-climbing type of witch who probably just uses magic to heal her cuts and bruises faster. I don’t think she stands at a fire and makes it grow taller while casting a spell. I’m pretty sure I just wanted to draw her doing something and I was like “eh, let’s do something that seems witchy”. (Also this may have been a companion to Carwyn casting a spell, but I am not 100% sure.)
Regardless, I think the composition of this piece is super cool. I ran out of space on the paper at the end of it, but I know I would have fixed that issue when I went to colour it. I also hope I would fix her body too! She looks SO flat! Like, way, way too flat. Normally, she doesn’t look like that!
This is a pretty cool piece overall, but I’m glad it didn’t win. There’s too much going on in it for my taste at the moment!
